ABOUT ME —

Hello! I am Maya Padlewska and I am an observer, explorer, and creator. I am passionate about the visual arts, designing sets / costumes for theatre, with interests in exploring the world of film, other performing arts, and illustration.

Born in the rural landscape of the Ottawa Valley, I grew up surrounded by trees, lakes, and art; from my parents’ studio, to being brought to theatres and galleries, to my own little creations. I am constantly driven by boundless curiosity and the need to explore, finding inspiration every day in the world that surrounds me. I find joy in my paint and my canvas, the music I play, the food that I cook, and the sound of my sewing machine at work. I am interested in the whimsical and the wonderful, the bizarre and the creative. I am of Chinese-Polish roots, both cultures deeply anchored within me. A language lover at heart; I speak Cantonese, Polish, French, and English, and I seek to continue learning about other cultures and languages.

Currently based in Montreal, I am a graduate of the Set and Costume Design program at the National Theatre School of Canada (2026). During my time at school, I have had the privilege of studying under renowned artists such as Cathia Pagotto, Gillian Gallow, and Jessica Poirier-Chang.

I seek to refine my creative process in my designs, always eager to work with my hands and to explore new mediums and processes. From any small to big project, I delight in working with other artists, approaching collaborations with great attentiveness, discipline, adaptability, and authenticity. To connect and create is one of the most wonderful things we can do.

À PROPOS —

Bonjour!
